Petra, Jordan
5 Day Journey Through The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
Jordan was downright dreamy, and I think I died and went to hummus heaven. I started my journey off in the capital of Amman where I explored, and let myself get lost in its colorful streets and markets. The following day was a long drive down to the city of Aqaba on the Red Sea because the next morning I would be living out a dream to go wreck-diving at the site of a C-130 Hercules, and a M42 ‘Duster’ anti-aircraft tank. The dive was world class, and left me wanting to explore the regions dive sites more, but it was time to head up to Wadi Rum on the way to Petra. A lot of people stop and do multi-day trips in the Wadi Rum region, but I was more interested in the ancient trading center of Petra where I would be spending the next day. My fourth day In Jordan I spent the entire day hiking the Petra Complex. There is a lot more to Petra than just the Treasury, and I would highly recommend seeing as much as you can. I packed a day bag with lots of food and water and wore the appropriate sun protection because temperatures got up to 102° and I was planning to do over 20 miles of hiking that day. Petra was also just such a great experience all the way around! The final full day in Jordan I headed north towards the Dead Sea, but decided to stop for a few hours and go canyoning in Wadi Mujib Biosphere Preserve. Wadi Mujib is a stunning slot canyon that boasts world-class canyoning and is a great spot to stop and cool off after driving thru the desert. After the invigorating canyoning session I headed further north for a float in the Dead Sea before returning to Amman. Jordan was an action packed trip and I would go back in a heartbeat. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
